Food Processing Workforce Summit

Tuesday, February 07, 2017  |  Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel  |  9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Registration is now closed. You can register on-site beginning Tuesday, February 7, 2017.
Workshop registration includes your entrance into the 2017 Food Processing Expo
Many food processors face significant challenges with recruiting, training, and retaining a high-quality workforce.  Workers with strong technical skills are critical to plant operations, but filling those positions can be problematic due to competition from other industries, or other states.   What are the positions that are hardest to fill, and what is being done to address this issue?  How do you best connect with the junior colleges, universities, and other organizations that can provide the training and skilled workers that you need?  Our panel of speakers from educational institutions, economic development organizations, and industry will discuss the workforce needs of the food processing industry and where companies can get help with finding and training the best employees.
In addition to workforce recruiting and retention issues, food processors must comply with a myriad of wage and hour, OSHA, workers’ compensation, and health care regulations.  It is an ongoing challenge for human resource managers to keep current with all the requirements and how best to comply.  The afternoon session of the workshop will provide an update regarding new regulations and provide an opportunity for participants to ask their burning questions about compliance issues.  This is a “can’t miss” session for HR managers
